1. FAQ- Reports
1.1. Can we use Other Report Designers besides Crystal Reports?
Q.  Can we use Other Report Designers besides Crystal Reports?

A.    Any ODBC compliant report writer will work (i.e. Excel, Access reports, etc), but CR allows them to embed it in ManEx.
1.2. Can Manex Output Reports to PRN format?

At this point in time Manex will not be implementing this into our system. This will have to be an option in which users can configure on their own systems. To do this you would have to establish they want to print to a file, set up a new printer that will print only to a file, and then select that printer as the default before they open Manex. Then each printed report sent to the printer will be sent to a printer file.

Fore more detailed information you can also visit the following link:  http://www.frogmorecs.com/arts/what_is_a_prn_file.html

1.3. Can Manex support Code 128 type barcodes?
Q.  Can Manex support Code 128 type barcodes?

A.  ManEx does NOT support Bar Code font 128 only Bar Code 39.  There is a program called "Fontware Barcode" and they have their own DLL that can be called to create the label, but the software is not free.  You would have to purchase the software.

1.4. How can I get the Legal Reports to Display Completely on Screen?

This is a print driver issue.  Try changing your printer defaults paper size to Legal instead of Letter and display the report on screen.  Or when you print to the printer directly change the preferences and paper size to Legal - all info will print.

If you are still unable to get the legal reports to display completely on screen, try changing your default printer to the PDF Writer (if you have one) and then if the pdf writer is defaulted to legal size it will all display on screen.

1.5. How do I Fix Barcoded Reports?

Procedure for Installing Barcode Font  See Article #1225

1.6. How the Default Printer Prompt Works.
Currently I have my Default Printer setup to PDF MANUAL  as displayed below.

Select tor Print Check, label, etc. and the following screen displays allowing me to select a printer other that my default, so I select to print to Lexmark 8300 Series:

Depress Print, once my document has been printed, and I depress the exit button to exit screen the following Default Printer prompt appears:

Depress "No" to leave the printer you just selected (Lexmark 8300 Series) as the default printer.

Depress "Yes" to restore the original default printer and the following Printer screen will appear.   Highlight the Printer you want to set as the default (PDF MANUAL) then depress the Print button at the bottom of the screen.  This actually will not cause anything to print but will update your default printer back to the (PDF MANUAL) printer you selected to be the default printer.

1.7. What is the intent to Print to XL Format?
Q.  What is the intent to Print to XL Format?

A.  The XL output is designed for a  “power” user, user who actually wants to get their hands “dirty” and arrange or manipulate data the way they want to. The XL output is for those users that have expertise in XL  If the user chooses to see a report in the XL format they will see the raw data, the same data  that the program is using to output to the “user- friendly” format. The users that wish to use the XLS kind of output will have to have the knowledge in order to know how to group this type of data in XL to get the information desired.
1.8. What Tables are Accessed when Running the WIP Reports?
Q.  What Tables are Accessed when Running the WIP Reports?

A.  The tables that are involved with the WIP reports are:   Inventor, invtmfgr, kamain, woentry  however, the actual wip qty or wip value is NOT stored in any of these tables,  it is calculated based on the required quantity, work order balance and what was already picked and what is still short, etc.  For more information on how the WIP value is calculated see Article #1777
1.9. What Model is recommended for the Zebra Labels / Barcode printer?
We have designed the Zebra Labels within the Manex system to work with Zebra Model #LP2844.  The format is supposed to be generic enough to work with any Zebra 4x3 Label printer, but some users might experience a “Detail Band is too large to fit on page"” message and then a blank label if using other models.  For these reason we recommend that you use the Zebra #LP2844.  The 4x3 is the maximum size label the printer can handle.

The ZEBRA label part numbers are:
10000286 (or equivalent) is for the 3 x 2 label
10000281 (or equivalent) is for the 4 x 6 label

Note:  It has been confirmed that these labels will successfully work with a Zebra #PA403.

Other end users have stated the below models of Zebra label printers work as well.

ZEBRA BRADY
 LP 2844 IP300
 ZP450
 ZP 505
 GK420T
 110XiIII
 ZM400
 Z4M

There are really no restrictions on the scanner used, as long as it can read Code39, and have a keyboard wedge since we do not offer batch processing.

1.10. What Crystal Reports product/version is recommended?

We are currently using CR XI Developer,  but our new Library files should work with previous versions.   You no longer need to compile your reports using Crystal Reports Designer software.  You can now attach your Crystal Report in the User Defined Reports Setup and run them in ManEx.

1.11. When user selects to Print to PDF how are the Files Named?
Q.  When user selects to Print to PDF how are the Files Named?

A.  Manex has standard routine to name any PDF output, disregarding of the nature of the report, with the combination of the title of the report plus date/time for example if a printed a purchase order on January 15th, 2008 at military time of 15:38 the pdf name would be "purchase order form-20080115-15-38.pdf".    If a batch of PO's, Invoice's, Packing List's, Credit Memo's, Debit Memo's, and DMR's are printed to a PDF output, the file name would be a combination of the title of the report plus date/time followed by a count number for example if 3 PO's are printed in the same batch and they all were printed at miliatry time of 15:03 the file name will be "purchase order form-20080115-15-03.pdf".
1.12. Why does the Same Report Print Different when Exported to Text to Different Printers?
Q.  Why does the Same Report Print Different when Exported to Text to Different Printers?

A.   Depending on what your default printer or printer margins are set at does effect the output to the text file.  You will be able to clearly see some spacing differences between the attached text files for the same exact report.   <<HP Printer.TXT>> and <<Post Script Printer.TXT>>
1.13. Why are we receiving the following program error when attempting to export reports to Excel?
Question:  Some users are having trouble where when we choose to export to excel format in reports, the screen offers xl*. If you hit OK, you get an "invalid file name" error.

Answer:  There was a change in 9.6.2. some of the Excel export will now require that you actually put .xls or .xlsx in the file name itself.

Question: Why are we receiving the following program error when attempting to export reports to Excel? (Program Error - EXCEL.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created).

Answer:  It may be due to a limitation within Excel 97 that is causing this program error.

Resolution:  Try running the same report on a system that has a more recent version of Excel. If you do not have a system with a more recent version of Excel loaded, we suggest that you upgrade one of them to a more recent version and try running the same report to see if it resolves the issue.
