Why Use The Global BOM Change Feature?

Why would I want to use the Global BOM change feature?

When there is a global change in BOM, the effectivity and obsolete dates are used.  The old part is made obsolete and the new part effective on the date the change is made.

It’s best not to completely remove a part from a BOM.  The user will lose track of why it was ever put into inventory.  Is you use the Global BOM change, the user will be able to track it back to the BOM and the Customer for which it was ordered.  If the user obsoletes the part from the BOM itself, the user will be able to track the history of the part in the BOM.
